Winter Weddings
Weddings are a romantic occasion to share with your nearest and dearest, however, choosing which season to celebrate in can be a tricky decision. To give you some ideas and ‘food for thought’ we have come up with some tips and tricks to complete your perfect winter wedding.
Choosing a wedding date can be a nerve wrecking decision - as we all know the British weather is ever changing and completely unpredictable. However, a winter wedding date can be the picturesque backdrop you dreamed of for your wedding day. With the crisp, cool air and white snow covering the ground, most of the decoration is taken care of and all you have to do is add a touch of warmth to complete the cosy setting that you and your guests will fall in love with.

Typically red is a popular colour theme to add warmth and a festive touch, however why not break from tradition? If you want to try something a little more out of the ordinary, how about encompassing some of the following;
- Add a touch of coffee browns and a hint of caramel to warm the setting up, or for an icy theme, a pastel blue and grey may be perfect for you both. If you’re more of a country bumpkin a tartan colour scheme could be your ideal choice.
- Consider using festive foliage such as holly and red roses as part of your bouquet and decorations. In the past we have seen small Christmas trees decorated with flowers at the front of the church rather than flower arrangements, which was a unique, and festive touch.
- Incorporate a Christmas carol or two as part of your wedding service such as ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’ or ‘Oh Come All Ye Faithful’ which would add a festive and traditional element.
- Delicious wintery dishes could be on your wedding menu such as a traditional roast dinner with winter vegetables, polished off with a classic British pudding, our favourite, apple crumble.
Our 8 Top Weddings Tips
1. Work as a team
From the day that all important question was proposed and the answer was a resounding yes you became a pair, a tag team, a duet in each others lives. Therefore, the planning of your special day should be one to be discussed and planned together. That way when the day you both say ‘I do’ arrives you’ll be pleased with all those little touches you came up with together. 2. Take your time Your wedding day will only come around once so why not enjoy all the fuss surrounding the anticipation of the big day. Becoming officially wed is the finale, don’t rush the fiancee stage of your life together. Enjoy each stage leading up to the big event. 3. Have fun together at wedding appointments We know you will want everything to be perfect however, that shouldn’t mean the preparation process can’t be an a fun experience for you and your beloved. What isn’t there to enjoy about cake tasting, venue viewings, dress fittings, floral arrangements, and dress rehearsals? Embracing every little detail of creating your perfect day will make the day more bitter-sweet. 4. Accept that you can’t please everyone No matter how hard you try there will always be a relative that doesn’t agree with the colour of your bridesmaid dresses, or like the choice of food on the menu but don’t let that cloud your day. Accept that not everyone will be pleased with the choices you have made, the important thing is that you and your soon to be life partner are happy with each decision. 5. Don’t rush the getting ready process No matter what time you walk down the aisle make sure you leave yourself enough time to get ready, in a peaceful and stress-free environment. Take in every moment of your wedding day from the moment you first open your eyes; your big day is finally here, revel in every single moment. 6. Don’t stress If it rains, it rains. Getting annoyed or frustrated won’t change the weather, embrace it and dance in the rain, it is still your day. 7. Take a newlywed stroll Trying to find a little alone time with your new husband or wife on your wedding day is a little more challenging than finding the perfect venue. Ask if your photographer could pull you both away for some photos just the two of you, this way you get to have a little you time before the speeches get underway. 8. Add a personalised touch Share something close to your heart about the two of you with your special guests. Whether it may be photos of your journey together or maybe tables named after places you have visited; personal touches add a unique feel to your special day. |
